For the next three weeks we will be discussing The Watson's Go to Birmingham-1963. Our group consists of Tanya, Chrystal, Marivel, and Colleen.

ReplyDeleteThe stories in the novel are situations that do happen in real life. Byron the bully is alive and well today! I experienced the bulling side one time. Only once was enough for me!
Its a common occurrence in the public schools today and young gangs terrorize students all the time. Some dont report it for fear of retaliation but also because they want to fit in. I would have given anything to have a brother protect me at school as Byron did for his younger brother.
CHARACTER ANALYZER
ReplyDeleteFirst I want to say this Blogger stuff is new to me. Im having a hard time navigating and figuring out how to place my topics in the Topics page. Not sure what Im doing so bare with me.
Kenny Watson - My favorite character. He's a chicken. His slight eye disformity makes him insecure. He is the younger brother therefore he looks up to his bully brother Byron.
Byron Watson - What a character, a bully, a trouble maker but he loves his siblings otherwise he wouldnt protect them from meaner bullys. Most of the stories are centered around Byron and his mischievous ploys.
Little Sister Joetta - a spoiled crybaby who can control momma and pappa by crying her way out of situations. She pretty much controls the family. She cant stand to see her brothers cry when they are getting punished. (she has a soft spot somewhere)
Wilona Watson - The mother a disciplinarian, from the Southern state of Alabama. A thrifty spender, buys early to save money (as in the gloves) A homemaker who enjoys her domestic duties.
Larry Dunn - The bully king of kindergarten. He loves to tease and bother Kenneth.
Buphead - Byrons best bully friend. He attends school with the Watson boys. Buphead likes to tease Kenneth.
